Set up/Site planning on Friday, September 19th, 2025
Jack plans to be at the park about 5 PM, possibly a little earlier. Watch this page for the latest in layout planning. No guarantees, though. A rough attempt is shown below. At 7:30 PM Friday evening, there will be a parade of about a quarter mile length. IF our Viking village set up goes incredibly well, we could be a nice addition to the parade...
Torchlight Parade! Free, all welcome, candles provided. Beginning on Alisal Road and Laurel Avenue; strolling south down Alisal and ending at the Midgaard Pavilion Stage.
Saturday and Sunday Activities
The Park area is planned to be open 10am-5pm Saturday and Sunday. Our cultural displays will include our traditional clothing, weapons, games, musical instruments, furs, maps and tools during the day for people to explore and learn from. We will perform "The Viking Art of War" on both Saturday and Sunday. We will provide our displays on Saturday, with 2 scheduled demonstrations, one in the morning and one in the later afternoon. We will provide our display on Sunday, with at least 1 scheduled demonstration either before or after the children’s parade. Pack up may begin by 3:30pm. Our presentations should last about 15 to 20 minutes and include brief combat demonstrations. We do encourage attendees to ask questions and engage with us. If guests request additional mini demonstrations outside of the scheduled reenactments, and you’re open to that, it would be a fantastic bonus for the crowd! Visitors will gather in the park where there will be many chairs in a shaded area, space #13. There is space between the gazebo (space#1) and the chairs for our performance/demonstration there. It is roughly 15'x50'. Jugglers and unicyclists may be performing there as well.
Parking & Security
Parking will be provided at King Frederik Inn and we will have three reserved spots for our group at the park. Let's reserve those spots for the group members bringing the larger, heavier gear. Solvang will provide parking passes to place in our vehicle windows. For those staying overnight at the park, please know that designated Marines will be on-site as overnight security, ensuring our safety and peace of mind. A site map and several pictures of the park are shown below, along with the designated parking spots.
Lodging
We will have:
- 3 Double Queen rooms for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
- 3 King rooms for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
- 1 Additional Double Queen room for Sunday night
- Tent camping privileges within our tents in the park for several of our members
